Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, ‘We were in power from 96 to 2001. We planned to make 18,000 community clinics.’
‘We build about ten thousand clinics, out of which 4000. Its success in one year has a huge response among people. Because, without the severity of medicine is given there. Unfortunately, the Awami League did not come to power in the October 2001 elections. Then the BNP came to power. The Prime Minister came. Khaleda Zia immediately closed the community clinic. This is our misfortune.’
He said these things at the second National Leprosy Conference-2023 ceremony at a hotel in the capital on Sunday morning.
‘We have formed the government after 21 years, we get the opportunity to serve the people. Since then, our efforts are to bring the people of this country, especially healthcare, to the doorsteps of the people, it was started by the father of the nation.’
The Prime Minister said, ‘Our country In order to build private hospitals, we make taxes on all the equipment of private hospitals, especially children, to get the taxes to be created. We encourage them to create private entrepreneurs. We provide all kinds of facilities for them.’
‘My father struggled all his life to change the fate of people in Bangladesh. Through that struggle, we are able to build ourselves as an independent nation. His only goal is to fulfill his dream.’
‘We will accumulate our knowledge experience through this conference that it is possible to eradicate leprosy. We are getting the opportunity to promote what we have done. When we first come to the government, we will take several steps for health care,’ he said.’
The head of government said, ‘I established the first medical university of Bangladesh in 96. We also took steps to establish various institutes to develop skilled manpower to treat various diseases.’
