Interior Advisor to the Interim Government, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that the government has taken all measures to modernize the Coast Guard, as part of this, further modernization is going on with the inclusion of helicopter boards.
He said this at the 30th anniversary of Bangladesh Coast Guard at Agargaon in the capital on Monday (February 17).
Jahangir Alam said that a new Bangladesh has been born through the student movement, and the Coast Guard members are also working in that continuation.
The Coast Guard is working tirelessly to protect the maritime boundary, he said, adding that the Coast Guard is guarding the border with regular patrolling, and is working successfully for the safety of fishermen in the sea and rivers.
The home adviser said that after the movement, Coast Guard members were working to maintain law and order while at the same time, they were arrested for their involvement in various criminal activities.
Earlier, Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury received the Coast Guard's salute as a disciplined force.
