The government has issued a circular revising the quota system and issued a circular issued on Thursday, which signed by Public Administration Secretary Fatz Ahmed said that the existing quota system for direct recruitment in the posts of ninth grade (previously first class) and 10th to 13th grade (previously the second class) has been canceled. From now on, the existing quota system will be disbursed on merit basis.
Even if the quota is canceled in the first and second class jobs, the quota system for the posts of third and fourth class will remain as before.
So far 56 percent of posts in government service were reserved for various quotas, 30 percent for children of freedom fighters, 10 percent for women, 10 percent of districts, 5 percent of minorities, 1 percent disabled.
It is mentioned in the circular that the government has amended the quota system issued on March 17, 1997 by the Ministry of Public Administration in the case of direct recruitment of all government offices, autonomous, semi-autonomous institutions and various corporations in the jobs of various corporations.
On September 17, the quota review committee headed by Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam submitted the recommendation to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
