Kushtita: Four people were killed on the spot in the clash between two groups over the dominance of Kushtita, and at least 15 others, including a woman, were injured.
The clash took place in Astanagar village of Jhowdita Unit under EB police station of Kushtia Sadar Upazila on Monday evening.
The deceased are Kashem (50), son of deceased Hossain Ali of Astanagar village of Jhowdita Unit under IB police station of Kushtia Sadar Upazila, Laltu (30), son of Abul Malitha, Rahim (50) and Motiyar (40) son of Md. Afzal Mandal.
EB Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mustafizur Rahman said that for a long time there was a dispute between Fazlu Mandal and former Chetman Keramat Ali Biswas, president of Jhowdita Uniton, and former chairman Keramat Ali Biswas.
Fifteen injured people have been sent to Kushtita Sadar Hospital for treatment, 8 of them are in critical condition, according to the hospital sources.
Additional police have been deployed at the scene, and the situation is now in a state of severity.
