cover ;; The residents of Ramgati and Kamalnagar riverside have demanded the Bangladesh Army to give dutiva in the construction project of Ramgati and Kamalnagar river in Lakshipur district.
On Friday (August 27), this demand was made in front of the National Press Club under the banner of ‘Amra Ramgati-Kamalnagar Vasi’.
The speakers in the human chain said that we thank Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for allowing Tk 3,100 crore for the construction of the dam. In the past, we have seen the difference between the dam and the dam built by the water development board in the area.
‘In 2014, the dam built by the contractor of the Water Development Board is broken more than ten times a year. While the dam built under the supervision of the army is still intact. The habitat of the people of this area has been disrupted due to river erosion. This dam on the banks of the Meghna River is very important for us. We do not want to fall into any uncertainty about our dreams of survival.
Lakshipur District Awtami League President Golam Farooq Pinku, District Jubo League Convener BP Helal, Kamalnagar Upazila Parishad Chairman Mejbah Uddin Bappi, Vice Chairman Omar Farooq Sagar, Chairman Ahsan Ulyah Hiron and other general public of Kamalnagar were present in the human chain.
