NSI and upazila administration have seized 95 tons of rice and 33 tons of wheat from four godowns of three businesses in Kamalnagar of Lakshmipur.
(July 2) On Thursday afternoon, this rice and wheat was seized from the godown of Altaf Rice Agency, Roni Trades, Nahid Tradeas from Hajihat area of the upazila.
It is known that a rice trader in Hazirhat area of the upazila Altaf Rais Agency seized 5.5 tons of wheat from two pothouns of the agency, 20 tons of wheat, 4.5 tons of wheat from Gotown, Nahid Tradeas, and 5.5 tons of wheat was seized from the warehouse of Roni Treadas. In the morning, the journalists informed the local administration and NSI. Later, the NSI Deputy Director Manik Dey, Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) was arrested by the local government officer (UNO) who was not involved in the operation.
Each bag has 30 kg of rice from the food department and it is written on the bag, ‘Sheikh Hasina's Bangladesh-hungry will be destined’.
But the upazila executive officer kept the rice in the warehouse illegally. Mubarak Hossain seized 95 tons of rice and 33 tons of wheat from these warehouses, and the warehouses were sealed at the same time.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mobarak Hossain said, after receiving the complaint, we searched two warehouses of Altaf Rice Agency and seized 95 tons of rice and 20 tons of wheat. 8.5 tons of wheat was seized from the warehouse of Roni Treadas and 4.5 tons of wheat was seized from the warehouse of Nahid Tradeas and a person named Nizam Uddin was arrested and a person named Nizam Uddin was arrested. He also said that if an investigation committee is formed through the district food depot, legal action will be taken if it is found guilty.
