It is known that Kadirpandit's market and Ludhuta market are the traditional markets of Kamalnagar upazila. These markets are associated with a hundred years of history. The two markets have now gone to the river due to the erosion of the river. Hundreds of years ago, Ludhutta Bazar was relied on by the meeting place of Patirirhat, Falkan and Saheberhat. Ludhuta Bazar was the heart of fishermen and fish traders in particular. There were more than five hundred shops in this market.
Meanwhile, the local people have protested several times to prevent river erosion, human chains, meetings and memorandums with the Prime Minister. They have come to the demand to prevent erosion for years, but the work has not been done yet. Currently, Motirhat, Matabbarhat, Hajiganj, Nabiganj, Islamganj and Nashirganj markets are under threat.
In this regard, the Executive Engineer of Laxmipur Water Development Board said that senior officials including the chief engineer of the Paubo have recently visited the damaged areas of Kamalnagar.
Two lakh people in Kamalnagar expect that the government will take steps to prevent the erosion of the river.
