Lakshmipur ;; Two brothers and sisters died after drowning in Bhuluta river in Kamalnagar of Lakshmipur.
The accident took place on Saturday (February 16) at No. 7 on the 7th adjacent to Karunanagar area of Char Kadira Union of Sandhyat Upazila.
The deceased are Hasna Akhtar (9) and son Hamid (one years) in the medieval of garment worker Hossain Ahmed, a resident of that terrace.
Noor Jahan Begum, the grandmother of the victims, complained that the local influential people are doing fish farming and hunting by damming the Bhuluta river next to the river. On the dam, the younger brother Hamid was taken in his lap and the two brothers and sisters got into the river and drowned in the river. Locals rescued them and took them to Kamalnagar Upazila Health Complex, the doctors declared both dead.
Kamalnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC, Investigation) Alamgir Hossain confirmed the poison and said that legal action will be taken after looking at the poison.
Kamalnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Imtiaz Hossain said that action will be taken after investigating the complaint of fish farming and fishing in the river.
