Online media registered by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Mustafa Kamal Majumdar has been elected president of the owners‘ organization ’Online Newsportal Association, Bangladesh' (ONAB) and the new general secretary has been elected as Saidat Nurul Huda Rono.
On Saturday (October 3, 2026) morning, the previous ad hoc committee of the Onab Biennial General Meeting held at the National Press Club was announced by the dissolution of the new full committee.
The other representatives elected to the new committee announced are - Senior Vice President Alimuzzaman Haroon, Vice President Latiful Bari Hamim, Senior Joint General Secretary Ashraful Kabir Asif, Joint General Secretary Sakhawat Hossain Sajeeb and Treasurer Ayan Ahmed.
Shaheen Chowdhury, Tauhidul Islam Mintu, Delotar Hossain, Rafiqul Basar, Mahbuba Islam Kakali and Said Arifuzzaman have joined the committee as general members.
The day started with the annual general meeting under the chairmanship of the organization's convener Mustafa Kamal Majumdar and the moderation of member secretary Shaheen Chowdhury.
At the beginning of the meeting, a minute's silence was observed in respect of his memory of Taufiq Imroz Khalidi, a member of Onab and editor of BDNews 24, and then the members present presented various important proposals to make the organizational activities more dynamic and effective.
The meeting with the information and broadcasting minister, state minister, adviser and information secretary is to be met with the aim of quick implementation of these demands and the demands of the online newsportals to cancel the existing policy of new registration and bring them under the cover of government advertisement.
Shahin Chowdhury, Said Nurul Huda Rono, Shahinur Islam Chowdhury, Mohsin Hossain, Ayan Ahmed, Mostakim Sarkar, Delotar Hossain and Said Arifuzzaman spoke on various agenda and concurrent poisons of the said general meeting organization.
Finally, the newly elected president Mustafa Kamal Majumdar announced the end of the meeting by highlighting the objectivity of the online media and highlighting the issues to be done by the organization.
