The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against an influential Aomi League leader of Rajshahi for acquiring known wealth and concealing wealth information.
He is the president of Botali (East) Aomi League in Rajshahi city. Ranibazar Munsipa of the city has been accused of acquiring non-existent assets of Tk 1 crore 53 lakh 6 thousand 515 and concealing wealth of Tk 1 crore 47 lakh 4 thousand 421.
ACC's Rajshahi Divisional Office Deputy Director Aminul Islam filed the case on Tuesday afternoon, as the accused Atiqur Rahman Kalu is a contractor and businessman from Rajshahi, it is mentioned in the statement that the accused is a contractor and businessman of Rajshahi.
Complaint against him - For a century, Atiqur Rahman Kalu and several Awami League leaders are coming to the city hat lease of Rajshahi. Every year, the animal market is being leased to the most important place in the most part of the city.
According to the sources of the ACC case, ACC Atiqur Rahman had written to Kalu to file his asset statement in the case of the complaint of acquiring illegal wealth. In view of this, on January 15, he filed a statement of assets to the ACC, which he showed a total of Tk 9 crore 61 lakh 50 thousand 917 in his name.
But in the investigation, the ACC can see that the amount of movable and immovable assets is 11 crore 14 lakh 57 thousand 432 rupees. Here he has hidden the information of the assets of 1 crore 53 lakh 6 thousand 515 rupees.
On the other hand, the accused's record review is seen, from 2009-10 to 2022-23 Taka 2 crore 87 lakh 28 thousand 901 rupees for family status and paid a loan of 2 lakh 86 thousand 680 taka. That is, he has made another 2 crore 90 lakh 15 thousand 581 taka. As a result, his total wealth is 14 crore 4 lakh 73 thousand 13 taka. In this case, his non-existent wealth is available which is 1 crore 47 lakh 4 thousand 421 taka.
