Home Adviser Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) said that the role of the police is the most important in making the upcoming national elections free, fair and neutral. The most important thing is to fulfill the expectations of the people of this country, including the political parties, and the most important thing is on the shoulders of the police. All are expected to establish a standard in the Bangladesh Police National Elections which will be appreciated not only in the country but also in the international arena.
The advisor said these things in the chief guest's speech at the special crime review meeting of Bangladesh Police at the ‘Hol of Pride’ conference room of Dhaka Police Head Co.
The advisor said to the police that you are not only law enforcement in the election field, you are a symbol of people's security, trust and democratic rights, he said, mutual discussions and dialogues between the political parties have started around the election. In this case, none of the policemen can be a part of any political party, give and take special privileges and consider themselves political workers.
I call upon the senior police officers to take steps to enhance the professionalism, team spirit, discipline and morale of the subordinate police officers who do not have professionalism and discipline, do not obey the command and take strict administrative and legal action against those who want to show disrespect to the government and the state.
Mentioning that the meeting of the core committee should be called frequently at the district level, the advisor said that the political turbulence cases should be withdrawn quickly, the false cases should be settled in the fastest time. He said that the special police branch of the police should be more active and the looting weapons recovery operation from the police station should be accelerated. He warned everyone including the police to strengthen the security of the KPIs of the district.
The advisor said that the attack on the police will not be tolerated under any circumstances, he also directed the concerned to take quick legal action in this regard, and also, he said, the young police officers should play a leading role in preventing cyber crimes.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam BPM presided over the meeting Cisco video conference, DIG, Metropolitan Police Commissioner and District Superintendent of Police of different ranges of Police were present and senior officials of Esmut Police Head Co. The meeting advisor answered various questions of DIGs, Metropolitan Police Commissioners and District Superintendents of Police and gave advice on various ranges.
