Although the campaign to prevent the killing of Jatka continues, the markets of Laxmipur's Kamalnagar upazila have been swept up in jatka hilsa. Buyers are being called openly in unison. Although the administration people come from these markets, no action is being taken.
There are such images of the upazila's Hajirhat, Nabiganj, Motirhat, Ludhuta, Matabbar Hat, and the locals selling jhatka in the release of the district's life center Hajir Hat Bazar.
Even though Kamalnagar Upazila Fisheries Department conducts raids, the bargaining jatka is sold in Kamalnagar at Tk 500 to Tk 700 per kg.
A seller of Hazir Hat Bazar said that now there is no hilsa in the market but small hilsa is available. Buyers also buy them at a lower price. They will buy wholesale and sell it at 500 to 700 taka per kg.
Hazir Hat Bazar businessman Omar Farooq said, "The administration's campaign to save jatka is just a iotash. They are conducting a mouth-to-mouth operation.
Kamalnagar Upazila Sinister Fisheries Officer Turya Saha said, "We have conducted raids in the upazila markets but we have now conducted most of the operations in the river, which will also be conducted in the haat bazaars."
Kamalnagar Executive Officer Mohammad Rahatuzzaman said, "We have been conducting 24-hour raids now, but I don't know the poison of the market. Hats will also be conducted in the market.
Incidentally, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has said that all types of fishing including hilsa will be banned in five hilsa sanctuaries including Lakshmipur from Monday (March 1) to April 30.
