Bangladesh has stopped air traffic with 10 countries from midnight on Saturday.

This ban will remain till March 31.

Director of Shahjalal International Airport Group Captain SM Touhidul Ahsan said that all types of air traffic on 10 routes has been stopped till March 31.

”We have seen that people are coming from some countries due to coronavirus, which has stopped the flights of these routes. During this period, no flights will be able to come from these countries to Bangladesh.”

He said, these countries are Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Malaysia, Oman, Singapore and India.

This has resulted in the virtually halting international flights with Bangladesh as the world's major airlines operate aviation through these countries.

However, the flights will continue on the UK, China, Thailand and Hong Kong routes, which have direct air contact with Bangladesh.
