The head of the banned Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (New JMB) women's wing has been arrested by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (CTTC) on Tuesday evening, a CTTC team arrested him on the basis of secret information.
CTTC Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam said, ’We were looking for Asmani for a long time. He used to use different names on the two mobile phones that were recovered from him. I hope that if he is interrogated on remand, it will be possible to recover a lot of information. The operation to arrest 4-5 others who are with him is continuing. The operation is continuing to arrest 4-5 people who are with him.
CTTC Assistant Commissioner Sheikh Imran Hossain said that two mobile phones were seized from Khan Khan Khanapur Dakshinpaja village of Rajbair Sadar police station and two mobile phones were seized from him.
Sheikh Imran Hossain also said that after becoming the head of the women's wing of the new JMB, he was collecting women members online for a long time. He sent various people to the alleged migration, who were caught by law enforcement. He was in touch with one of the leaders of the new JMB with Islam Al Hindi, Abu Dujana and Abu Mohammad.
He also said that Akashmani had teamed up with four or five associates of the North Kamalapur area with four or five associates of the new JMB, as part of the destructive plan, the unknown 4-5 new JMB associates were united in the area. The operation to arrest Asmani was filed against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
