Lakshmipur ;; The general secretary of the alternative movement Lakshmipur-4 (Ramgatti-Kamalnagar) Constituency MP Major (Retd.) Abdul Mannan said that not one inch of land in Ramgati and Kamalnagar upazilas will be broken in the river. 32 km of arrow protection dam will be constructed to prevent erosion. The construction of the dam will start from next November. 4/5 of the army will be working to prevent the erosion.
He said these things after observing the erosion situation of Fallkan river in Sandhya and upazila on Wednesday (August 14) Kamalnagar-Ramgati Bachano Manch Austoz short path meeting Ludhuta Eidgaon ground and Hazirhat Bazar.
He said, Ramgati-Kamalnagar will be protected from river erosion at any cost. It is difficult to control the river. The government is sincere in preventing erosion. Bangladesh is able to manage the river like the different countries of the world. The government will provide adequate allocation to protect against erosion.
Path Sabha among others spoke - Kamalnagar Upazila Aomi League President AKM Nurul Amin Master, Tasfiq Mannan, Advocate Abdus Sattar Paloan and Sakil.
Earlier in the afternoon Major (Retd.) Abdul Mannan visited various areas including Nashirganj Bazar due to Meghna river erosion, Kamalnagar Upazila Chairman Mejbah Uddin Ahmed Bappi and Vice Chairman Omar Farooq Sagar along with Dalit leaders and activists.
On August 16 (Friday) at 11 am, he will monitor the river erosion situation from Motirhat area to Ramgati.
The Meghna river in Ramgati-Kamalnagar has been broken throughout the year. In the monsoon season, thousands of families have become destitute due to the erosion of the monsoon season. Crop lands, roads, markets, educational institutions, mosques, cyclones are under threat.
