On Monday afternoon, paddy will be collected directly from the farmers in Char Kadira Unit of the upazila. 9 tons of paddy will be collected from the 31 farmers of the upazila.
Upazila Executive Officer (Act.) Mohammad Rafiqul Haque said that the farmers are not getting the real value of the paddy produced. Due to which the government is collecting boro paddy from the real farmers. 9 tons of paddy will be collected according to the allocation of the upazila. According to the information of the food department and agriculture department, this paddy is being collected from 31 farmers. But according to the production, only 9 tons of paddy is collected very little. According to the government price, the rice will be 1 thousand 40 per maund.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Rakibul Islam, Food Officer (Acting) Rashed Alam Bhui, Food Inspector Sala Uddin, Deputy Agriculture Officer Rafiqullah, Upazila A, League Vice President Shafiqul Islam (Bangla Leader), Farmers League President Dr. Harunur Rashid, Farmer Hiron Howladar, Noor Nabi, Shawkat etc. were present.
Out of 9 units in Kamalnagar, 280 hectares of paddy has been produced in 280 hectares of land, which is why the farmers are not getting the real price of paddy in the market. Due to which the government is directly collecting paddy from the farmers. The government has fixed the price of paddy per maund of paddy at Tk 1,000. While the farmer is selling paddy at a price of only 500 to 520 rupees per maize, which is less than half of the production cost of the farmers.
