In the Kamalnagar of Lakshmipur, hundreds of rows of boats are killing various species including jatka every day.
From Wednesday (March 20) afternoon to Friday (March 22) morning, various areas of Meghna river in Kamalnagar are seen in different areas of the river, fishermen are hunting fish seamlessly. Most of the fishermen are using illegal current nets to hunt Jatka.
In Matabbarhat area of Kamalnagar, it was seen that fishermen are fishing in the river in the presence of fisheries officers and coast guards.
After some time, the fisheries officers and the Coast Guard left the area and fishermen dragged fishing and fishing at the ghat, which is how the ‘fish protection campaign’ is going on.
It has been found that the Meghna river is completely unprotected since evening, and fishermen hunt fish all night depending on the slope and fishermen catch fish in the area around the ghat in the morning. Fish is sold worth lakhs of rupees every day. A circle of fish selling fish takes money from fishermen, manages that money.
Fish production has been increased and Jatka is a ban on fishing for two months in the Meghna of Lakshmipur, but fishermen are not following the law.

Yet efforts are being made to prevent fishermen from fishing. The list of food support has been prepared and VGF rice will be distributed to the fishermen in the same time as well."
Laxmipur District Fisheries Officer HM Mohib Ullah said, 49,558 registered fishermen in Lakshmipur, 25,947 fishermen will get food support from them. The remaining 23,611 fishermen have been left out. They have also been informed to the higher authorities in this regard.
