Pradeep Kumar Rat:
As soon as the afternoon fell, the people of the ghat were filled with the sound of the people. The sound of the locals came to the laughter, and there are now memories of emptiness, fear and river erosion.
The altaf Master Ghat, which was surrounded by Meghna in the lap of Meghna No. 1 of Dakshin Charbanshi Union of Rashtpur Upazila of Laxmipur District, was the only tourist center of the upazila. Natural beauty, the scenic tension of the river and the local Altaf Master's initiative, this place is now facing destruction.
The locals say it was not just a ghat, but a part of our existence. Every day little by little the river is swallowing the ghat, everything is being destroyed in front of our eyes but as if nothing is done by anyone.
Former Upazila Cheterman Altaf Master, a former teacher of the local school, raised this ghat on his own initiative. It was a natural recreation center at first one seven years ago. It was a ghat of the Yatat, then gradually a bamboo canopy, a bunk house, a tea shop next to it and a children's game.
Alauddin Khan, the owner of New Darbar, said that the mermaid and banana restaurant has already been destroyed due to the collapse of the river view restaurant. A young man named Md. Russell said, "I am the owner of a trawler. I used to go to the riverside by the trawlers of the tourists who were going to the river.
Local resident Md. Shahidul Islam said, "The boats used to go to the river only in the afternoon, he said that all the memories are going on now. Rokon Deotan, UP member of No. 2 UP No. 1, said that they have come to know the poison but has not taken any fixed measures so far.
Meanwhile, the people of the area are expressing their anger and saying that the situation cannot be handled just by talking.
The ghat could be covered with sandbags, and tried to control the course of the river, and no one did anything, a local school teacher named Jannatul Ferdous complained.
Altaf Master Ghat was not just a tourist center; it was a collective emotion that connected each other, which was the only open natural environment for the South Charavanshi Unitan, now if it is destroyed, the village children's play, the solitary watch, the encouragement of lovers to walk in the river.
The river goes down, but if we stand together - then Altaf Master Ghat will rise again, said the old Altaf Master himself. His voice is tired, tears are in his eyes, but a little glimmer of hope is right.
The people of Rakhpur know that the river can swallow the soil, but they do not know how to give up, that is the story of that Laii, one day the new history of Altaf Master Ghat will start again.
