Ragpur Municipal Commissioner and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Imran Khan said, "Wattering is a long-standing problem. The old drains are not being cleaned properly. The drain renovation work will be started in the next few months.
A local planner and environmental activist said that the waterlogging is taking a sensible form due to the digging of the built canal and the drain, unplanned construction and filling of the water bodies. To solve this problem, only the development project should be given importance, public awareness and environmental protection should be given importance.
Locals demand that measures should be taken to improve drainage system, re-excare canals, clear illegal encroachment and inspection of the system.
