Police have arrested Awami League leader Mishkat Ahmed, who was warranted in Ramganj of Laxmipur, and he was arrested last night in Chittagong.
Ramganj police station officer-in-charge (OC) Abul Bashar said, “Based on the secret information, it can be confirmed that Mishkat is hiding in Chittagong. After that, a special team of Ramganj police station conducted a raid there and arrested him. At the time of his arrest, Mishkat tried to escape but the police managed to arrest him.”
Awami League leader Mishkat is the son of Nazir Ahmed of Sonapur house of Sonapur ward of Ramganj municipality. Locally he is known as an active leader of Awami League.
The OC of Ramganj police station also said that Mishkat Ahmed is being kept in the police station and preliminary interrogation is going on and he will be sent to Lakshmipur court after the necessary legal process.
It is known that “the two murder cases filed at Jatrabari police station in Dhaka, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, accused Mishkat Ahmed are related to the murders that took place during the July-August movement.” During the movement, several people were killed during the clash, in view of which two cases were filed.”
