After a long wait, the railway bridge built on the Yamuna river has been officially inaugurated.
On Tuesday (March 18) morning, the bridge was inaugurated by flying pigeons and balloons in the Ibrahimabad railway station area at the eastern end of the bridge.
The bridge was inaugurated by the Director General of Bangladesh Railway M Afzal Hossain, the Secretary of the Ministry of Railways Fahimul Islam, who was present at the event, said by Japanese Ambassador to Dhaka, Saida Shinichi, and Director General of Japan's foreign development agency JICA for South Asia Etouyuki.
The inauguration of the bridge will open up new horizons of communication, trade and economy, especially the railway communication between the north-south and western regions, which will make Bangladesh a more likely progression.
