He expressed this opinion in the speech of the Virtuely Jointi Celebration of the International Mother Language Day at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France on Friday (February 21).
The chief adviser said that the mother tongue is rooted in the identity of the people. Everyone should understand the importance of their mother tongue. Otherwise, it will not be possible to achieve the three zero theory and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) because they cannot be achieved without anyone behind.
Dr. Yunus said that the true expression of internal expression in the mother tongue is the expression of the mother tongue in the history of the construction of Bangladesh, including the July coup, which is reflected in the ethnic, cultural, social, political aspirations, and thus the nations are seen so much diversity.
He said, "There is no alternative to giving importance to mother tongue in order to be an inclusive society. To maintain individual, culture and tradition, not a single language can be allowed to disappear."
The chief adviser also demanded that the language barriers in the expansion of higher education be lifted and he expressed hope that UNESCO will play a role in the preservation and expansion of every mother tongue in the world.
