Maria Tripodi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy has assured to take a quick decision on the long-standing visa application of Bangladeshi workers.

He gave this assurance in a courtesy meeting with Foreign Advisor Md. Tauhid Hossain on Wednesday (February 19) morning.
In a statement sent from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs later, Deputy Minister Tripodi expressed his strong support to the Italian government and praised the ongoing reform initiatives aimed at building a peaceful Bangladesh, which he expressed satisfaction with the trade between the two countries, especially in the textile and defense sector.
The foreign adviser called for more Italian investment based on dynamic economic relations between Bangladesh and Italy, especially in the greenfield sector.
Moe Touhid Hossain also informed that the current government-specifically, BIDA, is working tirelessly to create a better business environment in Bangladesh by simplifying the processes for foreign investors.
He welcomed Italy's interest in contributing to the modernization of the defense sector of Bangladesh, stating that Bangladesh wants to diversify the source of materials in the defense sector.
Referring to the warm bilateral relations from 1972, Deputy Minister Tripodi expressed his strong support to the Italian government and praised the ongoing reform initiatives aimed at building a peaceful Bangladesh. He expressed satisfaction with the trade between the two countries, especially in the textile and defense sector.
Italy's deputy minister has come to Bangladesh on a two-day official visit.
It should be noted that this is the first ministerial visit from an EU country after the formation of the interim government.
