Nooruddin Bhatt Shiplu (43), convener of Raatpur Municipal Tanti League and leader of Reporters Unity, was arrested as part of the special operation ‘Devil Hunt’.
On Monday (February 17) around 8 am, he was arrested by the police from Naratanganj.
It is known that Nooruddin Bhat Shiplu is the executive editor of the local daily ‘Lakshmipur Post’ and a national daily published in Dhaka. He was a local correspondent and was also the elected president of the Gazi Market Trade Association of Ratpur town and also served as the leader of the Ratapur Reporters Unity.
Nooruddin Bhat Shiplu is the younger brother of Gitasuddin Rubel Bhatt, former maturist of Ratpur Municipality and Joint General Secretary of Upazila Aomi League.
Laxmipur Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Monnaf said that Gotenda police arrested Shiplu and handed over the police station and he was arrested in the August incident.
Laxmipur District Police Special Branch Officer (DIOTAan) Mahfuzur Rahman said that a total of 13 people have been arrested in various police stations of the district in the last 24 hours of ‘Devil Hunt’ operation. So far, 82 people have been arrested through this operation.
The arrest of this leader of Journalist Reports Unity has created a mixed reaction among local media workers.
