The Election Commission (EC) is going to start updating the voter list in the country from Monday (January 20) with the target of adding 1.52 percent of the citizens to the voter list. Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin will inaugurate the voter list updating program at Savar Upazila Parishad Milan in Dhaka at 10 am.
Four Election Commissioners, NID Director General and senior officials of the EC will be present in the event.
The first step in the preparation of the EC election preparation is to sweep the voter list. The organization has already started this work in full swing. This program of collecting the information of voters in the or two consecutive weeks (up to February 3) will continue. This time, the information collection of those who were born on January 1 or before 2008 will be collected in the registration center from February 5 to April 11. The application of the upazila/thana election officer's office to transfer the voter area, the information of the deduction of the dead voters and the new voter information software will be uploaded from February 12 to April 16.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has informed that they want to complete the registration process within the next 6 months. 65 thousand trained manpower has been engaged in the entire work. They will work towards the target of adding 1.52 percent of the citizens to the voter list.
Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah said that 40 to 45 lakh voters may be included in the update process. The EC is trying to update the information of the EC to prepare the right voter list by including the dead voters and the new ones.
The updated voter list should be given to those interested in becoming a new voter- 17 digit online birth certificate copy; copy of nationality/civilization certificate; photocopy of close relative's NID (parents, siblings etc.); SSC/Dakhil/equivalent, 8th class pass certificate copy (if applicable); copy of utilities bill (electricity, gas, water/callionary receipt).
Things to be careful about while becoming a voter – one's name, parents’ name, birth registration or education Must be written exactly in line with the certificate; date of birth must be registered or education The certification must be in accordance with the certificate; in writing the permanent address, the voter must write the actual permanent address; in no case one should not be a voter or twice. If someone is a voter multiple times, it can be easily identified through fingerprint examination.
