A one-year-old child named Amena Akhtar died after drowning in a bucket of water in a bathroom in a flat on Bangram Road in Wari of the capital.
On Saturday (18) around 12 noon, when he was brought to Dhaka Medical College (DMH) hospital in an unconscious state, the doctor in charge of the emergency department declared Shishu Amena dead.
The child Amena is the daughter of Tajul Islam of Shilua village in Feni, who was currently rented with her family in the second floor flat of Ashraf Garden on Bangram Road in Wari area.Amena is the youngest of two sisters and one brother.
The mother of the baby, Khodeja Akhtar, said in a tearful voice, "I was making breakfast. When my amena fell into the bathroom while playing my Amena, I did not know when I was playing with my amena. After making my breakfast, I saw that I was lying in the bathroom bucket water.
‘Brother, I don't know why this happened. God, why did you take my Amena? And he used to play my whole house. Now my room is empty.’
On the other hand, after hearing the news of the death of Shishu Amena, the Nawabpur machinery parts businessman father Tajul Islam rushed to Dhaka Medical and the emergency department of Dhaka Medical became heavy with the self-scream of his parents after losing the child Amena.
DMK Hospital police camp in-charge Inspector Bachchu Mia said, "The body of Shishu Amena has been kept in the emergency department morgue of the hospital. Although the incident was unwanted, we have informed the concerned police station.
