141 people appeal to EC on the second day to get the candidacy back

twelfth 141 appeals have filed against the selection of nomination papers of Returning Officers in the National Assembly elections, with a total of 183 appellants.

EC officials said that on Wednesday (December 6), 23 people in Dhaka region, 16 from Comilla, Najjan from Chittagong, four people from Faridpur, four people from Sylhet, 19 people from Mamansingh, six people from Barisal, 18 people from Khulna, 26 people from Rajshahi and 14 people from Rangpur region have filed an appeal.

EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said that 2,716 nomination papers were filed in 300 seats. Out of which the selection of the total of 731, which was 26.92 percent or 27 percent of the total number of nomination papers filed, which is 73.08 percent or 73 percent of the nomination papers of the submitted nomination papers.

Candidates can appeal against the decision of the returning officer till December 9. And the Election Commission will dispose of the appeal from December 10 to 15.

The last date of withdrawal of candidature is December 17. Returning officers will allocate symbols on December 18. The election campaign will continue till 8 am on January 5. And the polling will be held on January 7 (Sunday).
