The earthquake was felt in different parts of the country including the capital Dhaka, and the earthquake was felt after 9 o'clock this Saturday morning.
Monotar Hossain, weather expert of Bangladesh Weather Directorate, said that the earthquake was at 9:35:33 and 33 seconds across the country including Dhaka. It was felt on the Richter scale that it was 5.6. The earthquake originated in Ramganj.
Chittagong, Sirajganj, Narsingdi, Sylhet, Khulna, Chandpur, Madaripur, Rajshahi, Bagerhat and Brahmanbaria earthquakes have been reported.
There was no immediate report of any kind of damage or any casualties in the earthquake.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.5. Its origin is eight kilometers east-north-east of Lakshmipur, where the earthquake was 10 km deep.
