The 12th National Assembly elections are going to be held on January 7. The local government department has given 10 instructions to all the metros and chairmen of the country to conduct the elections properly. If the disobeying instructions is not followed, there will be no punitive action.
On Thursday (November 23), the Secretary of the Local Government Department, Muhammad Ibrahim, issued this executive order.
The instructions are:
1) Candidates for the 12th National Assembly elections cannot take any privileges of the local government and not even use the rank of the chairman.
2) In order to maintain law and order in the respective area, the law enforcement agencies should be provided with the help of the government.
3) The Election Commission should comply with the orders issued or will be followed in the same manner as the Election Commission.
4) Election processions, meetings and campaigns should be ensured that it is free, peaceful and in accordance with the rules.
5) Any attempt to destroy any election office or symbol or poster should be assisted in forming social resistance.
6) Do not accept and implement any advanced scheme in City Corporation, Municipality, Zilla Parishad, Upazila Parishad or Union Parishad which Nationality can be used to get or campaign any kind of vote in the parliamentary elections.
7) City Corporation, Municipality, Zilla Parishad, Upazila Parishad or Uniton Parishad cannot promise to give or grant grants or donations to any person or institution, which will influence the work of receiving the votes or campaigning of any candidate.
8) Any office, vehicle of the local government organization and other property shall not be used in any way for the election or campaign of a candidate. Cannot be allowed to use.
9) Officials and employees of the local government institutions cannot participate in the election work or campaign of any candidate.
10) In all other activities related to the election including the construction of polling stations, if the support of the concerned authorities is required, the local government will provide it and the elected representatives of the local government institutions cannot use their rank, government facilities etc. for the election of any candidate.
This executive order of the local government department has been sent to the chairman of all city corporations and municipalities, district, upazila and union councils, while at the same time, the Election Commission secretary has also given a copy of the order.
