The import of eggs has started at Benapole land port to increase the supply of eggs and keep the market stable. On the first day, a company named BDS Corporation imported 61,950 pieces of eggs in the port.
On Sunday (November 5) evening, the first shipment of eggs from India arrived in the country, which showed an import price of 2,988 US dollars.
As such, the import price of eggs is five taka 43 per piece, the importing company has said that the government duty on it is 80 pa.
It is said that the cost of each piece of egg including LC, export, port and C&F charge, transport cost will be within 9 rupees.
The concerned persons have known that the imported eggs will be sold at the retail level at the retail level (Tk 12 per piece).
According to the Ministry of Commerce, several conditions have been imposed for each shipment of imported eggs, one of which is that the government of the exporting country will have to file a certificate of bird flu virus and harmful bacteria.
Rezaul Karim, Acting Director of Benapole Land Port, said that the port authority is cooperating with the quick clearing of the shipment imported from India from the port.
