7 shops were destroyed in Char Lawrence Khaserhat market in Kamalnagar, Laxmipur, causing a loss of Rs 35 lakh.
A fire broke out from an electric short circuit on Thursday (August 10) morning, said the Ramgati Fatur Service Station Officer Mohiuddin.
A unit of Ramgati Fatar Service came and brought the fire under control.
They said that 7 shops including Babul Famesi, Almadani Foundation, Siraj's grocery shop, Billal's oil shop, Ibrahim's Honda Gerez, Sohail and Mizan Kokrij were on fire, they said that there was a loss of Tk 35 lakh.
Market traders said that in the morning, after seeing the shophouse in the market in the fire, Ramgati Fatarter Service workers were informed.
Kamalnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Masudur Rahman Molla, Kamalnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC/Investigation) Alamgir Hossain visited the spot.
