The police have remanded Safat for questioning two young women in the capital's Banani rape case, Safat Ahmed, son of Dildar Ahmed, and remand of Regnam Group owner Mohammad Hossain Jani, who has been remanded by the court and granted Safat a five-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rahanul Islam gave this order after hearing the remand application made by the investigating officer on Friday afternoon.
PP Abdullah Abu of Dhaka Metropolitan Datra Judge Court and Additional PP Shah Alam Talukder heard on behalf of the remand application.
On the other hand, the lawyer of the accused, Abdur Rahman Howladar, filed a bail application against it, and after the hearing, the judge rejected the bail and ordered the remand of the two accused.
Earlier on Friday around 3 o'clock, the two accused were taken to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka. The investigation officer applied for 10 days each of them, and the crowd was eagerly waiting for the two accused in the case.
Two private university students in Dhaka were raped at the Rain Tree Hotel on March 28. One of them Banani Thana has filed a case on May 6. The main accused in this case is Saadman Chaja, which includes event management group Eckers chief Naeem Ashraf and Safat's gai driver Billal and bodyguard Abul Kalam Azad.
Safat and Sadman were arrested from Sylhet on Thursday night. They came to Dhaka in the morning. They will come to the Dhaka Metropolitan Govt office early in the morning and they have accepted the complaint in the initial interrogation, said DMP Joint Commissioner Krishnapad Ratha.
