It is known that in the water bodies of Padma river in the upazila, the influential Rashed Chowkdar, Jillu Chowkdar, Basar Munshi and UP Chairman Nashir Uddin have been giving Ballgate and dredger machines for a long time. Sand was being raised and doing business.
In this, there was no one to see the char, including the cropland in the surrounding land, but there was no one to see it. After receiving the news, the mobile court conducted an operation in those water bodies of the Padma river and stopped extracting sand and fined one lakh taka in cash.
