A dead dolphin has been recovered by the Naval Police from the Meghna river in Ramgati upazila of Laxmipur.
The four-foot-long dolphin was recovered at around 11 o'clock on Tuesday, weighing 50 kg.
Later, the naval police decided to bury the dead dolphin on the ground.
Police Inspector Ferdous Ahmed, in-charge of Naval Police Fanji, said that around 11:00 a.m., the locals who saw a dead dolphin floating in the Meghna river adjacent to the Naval Police Station reported us and then they were rescued and brought to the shore.
If the poison is reported to the local administration and fisheries department, it will be decided to put the dolphin on the ground.
Police and locals believe that the dolphin may die due to illness.
Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md Nazrul Islam said, ‘If the dolphins were rescued alive, we would have taken proper measures in the first aid.
Since he is dead, he has decided to put the dolphin on the ground.’
