A child died after drowning in Ratapur upazila of Lakshmipur.
The child's name is Taiyeba (5). He is the acting headmaster of Charvanshi SM Azizita High School of Charbanshi village of Uttar Charbanshi Unitan of the upazila.
According to family sources, this afternoon, in the absence of the family, he went to the pond to play next to the house inadvertently. After some time, the family members started searching for him without seeing him.
At one stage of the many khonjakhjis, he was seen floating in the water of the pond near the river. Later, the neighbors rescued the child Taiba Akhter and went to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
His death has cast a shadow of grief on the family.
