The court sentenced a young man named Harun Rashid to life imprisonment in Rakhtpur, Laxmipur, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment for one more year.
Laxmipur Judge and Datra Judge Court Judge Muhammad Rahibul Islam gave this verdict on Tuesday (June 28).
The deceased Jalil Sardar is the son of Siraj Sardar of Udmara village of Ratapur.
Convicted Harunur Rashid is the son of Hazrat Bepari of Charbanshi Unitan Upazila.
The acquitted are - Abul Kalam alias Kalu Bepari, Md. Zahid alias Abul Kashem, Tofatall Palauan and Akhtar Hossain. All the accused in the Rata declaration were present.
According to the case, the murder took place on the night of January 5, 2016. The accused Harunur Rashid called Jalil on his mobile phone. Since then he was in the dark. The next day at around 11 am Jalil's body was recovered from the paddy field of Awatal Deo.
The victim's father, Siraj Sardar, filed a case against 5 people, and later on January 1, 2017, the police filed a charge sheet in the court in the name of 4 people and the court sentenced 3 people to life imprisonment and Harunur Rashid was sentenced to life imprisonment.
