Dhaka: BNP's chairperson Khaleda Jita is expected to be sent to jail, but Awami League general secretary Obatadul Quader said that the government has no idea to send Khaleda Jita to jail but if anyone is found guilty in the court, he feels that he will go to jail or get forgiveness.
Obatadul Quader said these things in response to questions from journalists at an event in front of Radisson Hotel in the capital on Thursday afternoon.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in an event yesterday, ‘If Khaleda Gee is sent to jail in a false case, in the country, if she is sent to jail in the country.’ There will be no election, if the election is given to him, the people of the country will not participate in that election.’
Fakhrul said, ‘BNP is elected. But that election should be held with everyone's participation and acceptable to all. This election should be held under a neutral government. He said, ‘Whether BNP will go to the nation or not will depend on what kind of government power it will have and how the role of the Election Commission will be.’
When drawing attention to Mirza Fakhrul's statement, the general secretary of Aomi League said, ‘BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda will not sit for the country's constitution and elections for Begum Khaleda Gita.’ He said, ‘Sashikala has to go to jail even in the same way as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The government of India or the election will not sit for Khaleda J.A.’
Obatadul Quader said, ‘Just as the stream and stream wait for no one, the constitution and elections of Bangladesh will not wait for anyone.’
