Several online news portal closures are under process for reporting untrue news, spreading rumors and immoral activities.

In response to the written question of M Abdul Latif (Chittagong-11), a member of the government party, the information minister also said that according to the instructions of the High Court, there has been a letter to the Department of Posts and Telecommunications to close the links including canceling the domain allocation of 179 online news portals based on the information of such activities and the government's government agency.
In response to the question of Benazir Ahmed (Dhaka-20) of the government party, the information minister said that currently the number of daily, weekly and monthly newspapers from Dhaka district is 1,126. Of which 499 daily newspapers, 345 weekly and 282 monthly.
