Dhaka: The bridge department has issued a notification naming the bridge built on the Padma river as ‘Padma Setu’.
The gazette has been published after the notification issued by the Bridge Department of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges on Sunday (May 29).
The bridge built on the Padma River connecting the Jajira edge of Munshiganj district in Mawa and Shariatpur district under the Padma Multipurpose Bridge construction project under the Bangladesh Bridge Authority under the Bridge Division has been named as the Government Padma Bridge.
The order issued in public interest will be effective immediately after the government has informed that the dream Padma Bridge will be inaugurated for traffic on June 25.
The bridge minister said that the good news of the inauguration of the much awaited Padma multi-purpose bridge project by the people of Bangladesh and the people of the southwestern region is that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Padma Bridge on June 25 (Saturday) at 10 am.
