The High Court has given an interim order to pay compensation of Tk 5 lakh to Tamim Iqbal, a fifth grade student who was seriously injured due to electrocution at a rural electricity pole in Ramgatti, Lakshmipur.
The High Court bench of Justice Inayetur Rahim and Justice Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Monday (November 6) morning, saying that the rural electricity authorities have not taken any measures to remove the electricity poles due to the river erosion, which is clear negligence.
The court also said that the government should arrange for the rehabilitation of the injured due to electrocution.
On September 23, while taking a bath in the Meghna river in Ramgatti, Lakshmipur, Tamim Iqbal, a 5th grader of Lakshmipur, was seriously injured due to an electrocution that fell due to a river erosion.
