Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that public transport will operate in Dhaka, Chittagong city including Gazipur, Naratanganj, Comilla, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet, Barisal, Rangpur and Mamansingh City Corporation area from Wednesday (April 7) to 6 am-6 pm.
Obatadul Quader said this during a briefing at his residence on Tuesday (April 6) afternoon.
He said, ‘In the lockdown situation, the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given approval by reconsidering the issue of public transport movement and approval of the public transport in various institutions including public and private sector and the public traffic.’
He also said that long-distance public transport will be closed as usual until further instructions are given.
The decision will be effective from tomorrow, Wednesday, April 7, and the decision will be in effect until the next order, he said, ‘The beginning and end of each trip will give you a disinfectant and transport related and travelers and passengers.’ Wearing mandatory masks, hand sanitizer should be ensured.’
In no way, the general secretary of Awami League Obatadul Quader also made it clear that the additional burden of the coordinated brother cannot be done.
The Minister of Transport has sought the cooperation of transport owners, workers and passengers to properly comply with the government's instructions to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
