Laxmipur Sadar Upazila Engineer Md. A series of complaints are coming up around Iqbal Hossain, amid the investigation of the local government engineering department (LGED) for demanding a \u20185 percent commission\u2019 in the bill for the bill of undevelopment, the final bill of Tk 33 crore 19 lakh has been paid before the completion of the work.
\nThe huge bills have been paid for the construction of the academic cum administrative building and women's hostel at the Laxmipur Government Primary Teacher Training Institute (PTI) and the construction and finishing work of the two buildings is still available in the two buildings.
\nAfter the incident came to the fore, the question arose, if the work is not completed, how did the final bill pay? Who has given the work to be done? And what was the role of Sadar Upazila Engineer Iqbal Hossain, the entire process of approval and payment of this bill?<\/p>\n
On Saturday (August 15) at the Laxmipur PTI premises, the work is still going on in various parts of the Academic cum Administration building, which has been incomplete, including lining, tiles, doors and windows, fans, lights, electrical equipment and furniture.
\nAccording to the concerned people, the women's hostel building is still 30 percent work still in place, but the final bill of Tk 33 crore 19 lakh has been paid against the two buildings, according to related sources and documents.
\nOut of this, the bill of the academic cum administrative building is Tk 21 crore 45 lakh and the bill of the women's hostel building is Tk 11 crore 74 lakh.<\/p>\n
According to LGED documents, the contract price for the construction of the five-storey academic cum administrative building of PTI is Tk 22 crore 53 lakh. Work commencement date is 6 December 2023 and the scheduled completion date was 14 October 2024.
\nOn the other hand, the contract price of the women's hostel is 15 crore 43 lakh taka. The estimated value of this work is 17 crore 28 lakh taka. The work commencement date is 16 December 2024 and the scheduled completion date was 16 September 2025.
\nThe total contract value of the two projects is Tk 37 crore 96 lakh, out of which Tk 33 crore 19 lakh has been alleged to be paid as a final bill.<\/p>\n
The bill was paid quickly due to the closing of the June closing of the fiscal year, they claimed that the bill was paid faster than the progress of the work in the field. The quantity and quality of work of the bill Deotar has not been properly verified. The measurement book (MB) with the final bill, the work completed, the bill approval documents and the examination of the concerned officials will be clear.<\/p>\n
Earlier Laxmipur Sadar Upazila Engineer Md. Iqbal Hossain was accused of demanding 5 percent commission from contractors in case of bills of various development projects, which LGED formed an investigation committee on July 15 after this complaint.
\nThe complaint has been asked to approve the demand for approval of various development bills including mosques, culverts, deep tube wells under construction, and the investigation committee has been asked to submit a report after verifying the truth of the allegations.
\nThe investigation committee has conducted an on-site investigation on July 28. It is not clear whether the investigation result or any administrative action has been taken against Iqbal Hossain so far.<\/p>\n
