Pradeep Kumar Rat, Special Representative:<\/strong><\/p>\n Rashtpur upazila of Laxmipur has been in the state of tension over the allegations of 1,300 acres of Khas land grabs in Char Kachita and Kanibgar Char. Innocent farmers have alleged that the local BNP leaders have forcibly occupied these lands under the government Khas Khati.<\/p>\n The victims said that they have been leasing for a long time and have been cultivating crops in these lands. After cultivating paddy in the last Aman season, they went to cultivate various crops like sattabin and pulses, and they faced obstacles from the local BNP leaders.<\/p>\n On Monday (Janu 20) local farmers held a human chain and protest rally against the incident, claiming that BNP leaders have abused their power and are obstructing their cultivation.<\/p>\n Complaints of victims<\/p>\n Farmer Gani Mita said, \u2018BNP leaders Badsha Gazi, Mubarak Ali, Shamim Gazi and Harun Howladar have taken over our land. Our lives have become miserable due to their tyranny.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018They have been reckless since August 5. They are stopping us from cultivating the land. We are in a very unsustainable situation.\u2019<\/p>\n Statement of BNP leaders<\/p>\n Rakhtpur Upazila BNP joint convener Mustafa Gazi said, \u2018I or any of my associates are not involved in land grabbing. We are being falsely accused.\u2019<\/p>\n \u2018The plot against us is going on. We are working to protect the interests of the farmers,\u2019 Badshah Gazi said in a similar statement.\u2019<\/p>\n action of the administration<\/p>\n Ratpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO). Imran Khan said, \u2018We are aware of the complaints of the farmers. The complaint of land grabbing and harassment through muscle power will be investigated.
