168 candidates have returned their candidature in three days by appealing to the Election Commission (EC) against the decision of the returning officers of the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections.<\/h3>\n

After the third day of hearing on Tuesday (December 12), the officials of the EC's law wing came to know such information.<\/p>\n

On the third day, 98 appeals were heard, 61 candidates were returned, and 35 people were rejected and two applications were not decided.<\/p>\n

On Monday (December 11) the appeal of 99 people was heard on the second day, which 51 people got their candidature back.44 people's applications were rejected and eight applications were not decided.<\/p>\n

Earlier on Sunday (December 10) 94 appeals were heard on the first day. The Election Commission of 56 candidates was rejected and the appeal of 32 people was rejected and the sixty appeals were kept pending.<\/p>\n

EC Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said that 2,716 nomination papers were filed in 300 seats. EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam said that 561 appeals were filed against the decision of the returning officer. The Election Commission will dispose of the appeals after hearing till December 15.<\/p>\n
