Bangladesh Bank is going to launch the national debit card from November 1 this year. This initiative has been taken mainly to reduce the dependence on foreign card companies and reduce the pressure on foreign exchange reserves.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Mejbaul Haque said that this card is being launched from November 1.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cEight banks are being piloted in the first place.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cIt will be introduced for internal use initially. The money-rupee card will be launched later.\u201d<\/p>\n

Governor Abdur Rauf Talukder said that Bangladesh Bank will take the initiative to launch National Debit Card in the post-budget press conference on June 2.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur country has visa, MasterCard or outside companies debit cards or credit cards. We didn't have any cards of our own. They had restrictions on their use. Moreover, the associated fees go out.\u201d<\/p>\n
