A region from the ancient past is called adivasis, with several ethnic groups living in Bangladesh claiming to be tribal recognition.<\/p>\n

The Fifteenth Amendment of the Constitution of Bangladesh on the issue of Adivasi has made several issues clear, according to Article 2 of Article 6 of the Constitution, as a nation Bengali and a citizen will be considered Bangladeshi.<\/p>\n

Apart from Bengalis, those who are other than Bengalis will be known as tribes, small ethnic groups. In the 1997 Chittagong Hill Tracts Agreement and Peace Agreement, Chittagong Hill Tracts People's Solidarity Association signed the Chittagong Hill Tracts as a tribal region and the 1st Section No. 1 of the Agreement was mentioned in the Act of Zilla Parishad that the word \u2018tribe\u2019 will be in force.<\/p>\n

On July 25, 2005, the United Nations Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has given instructions that the tribal groups of Bangladesh will be identified as tribals without calling them tribals.<\/p>\n

In view of the activities of the tribals of Chittagong Hill Tracts, on September 9, 2008, instructions were issued by the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts regarding the clear position of the Bangladesh government in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n

2010, the Ministry of Chittagong issued instructions to the Ministry of Chittagong as a tribal instead of the tribe.<\/p>\n

According to Article 23 (a) of the Constitution of Bangladesh, \u2018The State shall take measures to preserve, improve and develop the regional culture and heritage characteristic of various tribes, minorities, ethnic groups and communities.\u2019 Nowhere in the Constitution is the term Adivasi used.<\/p>\n

Article 28 of this constitution mentions \u2018In order to advance any backward part of the people, the state can take any kind of settlement for the sake of giving benefits and no other section of the constitution can prevent it.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018According to the \u2019United Nations Declaration of the Indigenous Peoples' or UNDRIP, they will get various rights including determining the strands of the tribals themselves and self-immolation. But Bangladesh is not the signing state in that declaration.<\/p>\n

From this discussion, it is very easy to understand that the government action and the position of the state on the tribal issue is very clear.<\/p>\n

According to the law and constitution of Bangladesh, the state of Bangladesh is giving various rights to all the groups of tribal or minority groups. Education, job, business, higher education opportunities abroad, quota in BCS recruitment etc. are being given to them by the Bangladesh government.<\/p>\n

The government has been working continuously for education, health, infrastructure development, cultural development in the hilly areas, and the trend of development continued during the reign of Bangabandhu.<\/p>\n

It is a continuation of the small ethnic groups who are citizens of independent Bangladesh and so that they are equal opportunities and citizens as everyone else. The current government is working sincerely to ensure that it can avail the benefits.<\/p>\n
