The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and the Socialist Party of Bangladesh (Basad) have called a mid-day strike on February 28 (Tuesday) to protest the increase in gas prices. However, it has been reported that the SSC examination centers and the candidates will be exempted from the strike.<\/p><\/div>\n

This was informed in a press release sent by the CPB office on Friday (February 24).<\/p>\n

According to the press release, CPB-Basad has called a strike from 6 am to 12 pm on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) President Comrade Mujahidul Islam Salim, General Secretary Comrade Saitad Abu Zafar Ahmed and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal-Basad General Secretary Comrade Khalekuzzaman strongly protested against the anti-people decision to increase gas prices in a joint statement.<\/p>\n

The statement said that the CPB and Basad leaders demanded immediate cancellation of the decision to increase the price of gas and at the same time called on the people of Dhaka to make the Tuesday strike a success as a mass demand strike.<\/p>\n

It has been informed that the SSC examination center and the candidates will be exempted from the hartal.<\/p>\n

CPB-Basad leaders said that the government will not accept this decision in any way to impose anarchy in the energy sector as a result of the corruption and wrong policies of the government to put the burden of ongoing unlimited looting on the shoulders of the people of the country.<\/p>\n

They also said that CPB-Basad will force the government to retreat by raising mass movements against this unreasonable price hike decision.<\/p>\n
