The contractors have formed a human chain with the six-point demand including the opening of Balumhal and reducing the price of all the construction materials. On Sunday (March 20) around 11 pm, the contractor welfare association held this program in front of Asaduzzaman Market on DB Road in Gaibandha district city.<\/p>\n

It includes LGED, Saks and Janpaths, Public Works, Water Development Board, Public Health and Education Ahbatak Shahjahan Khan Abu of the contractor welfare association of Gaibandha district spoke during the human chain of various departments including Engineering, District Council and Municipality.<\/p>\n

Shahjahan Khan Abu said in the human chain, after starting the estimates of all the tenders and work orders of the departments in the current financial year, the prices of all the construction materials have suddenly increased at an abnormal rate.<\/p>\n

For example, the current market price of each product has been much higher than the price that has been determined in the tender estimate of all the materials including rod, cement, stone, bitumen, brick, sand, electrical goods, sanitary fittings, tiles, paint, aluminum.<\/p>\n

If the contractors work in this situation, the contractors will suffer great financially. Not only that, if the work is done by buying construction materials at such market prices, those who have taken bank loans are insolvent. Go to the bank and cannot repay the bank loan.<\/p>\n

This will hamper all the ongoing activities that will cause the contractors to suffer financial, mental and physical damage.<\/p>\n

The speakers also said that the price of all construction materials related to construction should be reduced, such as rods, cement, stone, bitumen, brick, sand, electrical goods, sanitary fittings, tiles, paint, aluminum materials etc. All the works going on in the current financial year should be revised according to the current market rate schedule.<\/p>\n

At present, due to the abnormal increase in the price of construction materials, the VAT income tax imposed on the contractor should be reduced. The contractor and the contractor should arrange for the filing of returns once every financial year instead of filing the VAT return.<\/p>\n

Gaibandha district has no sandalum, so that the construction work will be exposed to various problems in the construction of sand, so a specific balance of the government will be made and this will increase the revenue of the government.<\/p>\n

In order to reduce the price of the contractor due to the unbridled increase in the price of construction materials, the LTM tender should be called for ATPAR (Sadar) tenders instead of 5 percent lace.
